Access control through electronic systems involves the use of access tickets such as badges or other previously encoded media; the most advanced systems can also contain biometric data.
In the electronic field, the first systems consisted of reading terminals for magnetic strip cards, still widespread in existing installations. Today the most popular systems are based on RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technologies, which allow the reading of credentials with “contactless” systems: you just need to bring the access title (badge, tag or whatever) close to the reader, without any contact in order to access the controlled area.
